Any restrictions? (Noise, speed, etc): The park has over six lakes, used for sailing craft, power boat racing and some for fishing. There is a smaller lake for model boats which has one side hard standing, for launching purposes, the rest of the perimeter is surrounded by trees and is a pleasant venue.

Updated 15-02-2005:

Hi Mark,
Some of the information on the Kingsbury Water Park Model Boat Lake needs amending and other information added..

The depth of the lake is much deeper than anticipated. It was a gravel pit and is up to 50ft deep in places, so waders would not be much use. I would class it as quite large, suitable for fast boat racing.

The Park is open all year round from dawn until dusk daily.
Car Parking is £2.50 per day, or £25 for a twelve month permit with unlimited use.
A new model boat launching area has just been completed (August 2004) and there is a small dinghy available for the use of retrieving stranded models from the lake ( only available when any club member is present ).
Club members meet on Thursdays & Sundays, for free sailing but the lake is open anytime during Park opening hours except on event days, when no free sailing can take place. Children sailing boats, must be accompanied by an adult for safety reasons. Various events and open days, take place throughout the summer months from March to October.
Event dates and information can be had from the club website.
All classes of model boats can be sailed, including i.c. engined craft. The lake is used solely
for model boating and is restricted for any other use, such as fishing or swimming. It is kept well maintained and weed is taken out as much as possible. There are good viewing areas with bench seating for spectators.
Regards
Geoff

Thanks Geoff. Tried to thank you for additional info via email but was returned with an error message? Thanks anyway, Mark
