The Maxum really does live up to the salesman's promises. There's seating for 7, so with 5 of us in the boat that gives us plenty of flexibility to move around. The bowrider seating is great for soaking up the rays and chilling out, or a white-knuckle ride bouncing over the waves.

GPS, VHF radio, first aid kit and an automatic fire extinguisher are carried together with life jackets and buoyancy aids for all on board (including infant and child sizes).

The cockpit area has a canopy, providing shade from the sun or shelter from the rain.

Watersports equipment - wakeboard, kneeboard, combi waterskis, mono waterski, two person tube, three person banana and wetsuits.

I also have an inflatable boat that I use for messing around when I don't want to go to the trouble of towing and launching the Maxum. It deflates and easily fits in the boot of the car. We took it on holiday to the south of France and had a great time.

It's a Europa Sport M270-Sport with Tohatsu 6hp four stroke outboard. Great fun - I've recorded 18.4mph on the GPS!! Not bad for 6hp!
