Enjoy
the spectacular scenery of Lake Windermere and the Lake
District National Park - at 12 miles long, one mile wide
and 220 feet deep, it's the largest natural lake in England.
This is my favourite...

Suggested itinerary -
| 10:00 |
Join
the boat at Ferry Nab Slipway, Bowness on Windermere.
[Directions] |
| |
After
a short familiarisation with the boat, head north
to Bowness.
Maybe
pick up an ice cream [or a BLT if you haven't had
breakfast] before continuing north to Ambleside.
| |
| |
There's
a 10 knot speed limit on the lake but that's fast enough
to get on the plane. Or, we can take it steady, follow
the north east shore line and enjoy the scenery. |
Lunch
Moor
up at Ambleside for lunch. Break open a picnic, eat
at the Wateredge
Inn, or stretch your legs and wander in to the
town for something to eat.
Cross
the lake and head south down the west shore line.
Fancy
a go at wakeboarding? Now's your chance! The 10 kts
(12 mph) speed limit is just enough to wakeboard.
Dry
off and take a breather - moor up around the islands
in Bowness bay. |
We've
only seen half the lake at this point. Now head south
and explore the southern end. Have another go at wakeboarding
or relax and enjoy the scenery. |
Maybe
stop for a drink or an ice cream at Fell
Foot Park (National
Trust - entry FOC) before
returning. |

What
to bring -
soft non-marking sole shoes, snacks, drinks, swimming
togs/wetsuit, sunscreen, towel, etc...
Suggested
contribution to running and maintenance - CLICK
HERE. Estimated contribution based on
a mixture of cruising, wakeboarding and lazing
around
throughout the day. Additional fuel costs for
full day of wakeboarding - shouldn't be much when
shared
between 5 of us. |
